Privacy Policy

CaseWarn ("we," "us," "our") operates casewarn.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your rights.

CaseWarn is a business-to-business (B2B) service. We do not knowingly provide services to individual consumers as defined under consumer protection laws.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and email address. Account creation and authentication are handled by Clerk, Inc. You may register using Google or Microsoft OAuth.

Watchlist data. We store the company names and any optional notes you add to your monitoring list. This data is used solely to perform monitoring on your behalf and is not used for any other purpose.

Payment information. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. We do not store or access your full credit card number. We receive and store a Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and billing plan to manage your account.

Usage data. We collect basic, aggregated analytics (pages visited, feature interactions) through Vercel Analytics. This data cannot be used to identify individual users and is used only to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.

Email delivery data. Transactional emails (bankruptcy alerts, receipts, account notices) are sent through Resend, Inc. Resend logs delivery status and timestamps for reliability purposes.

Server logs. Our servers automatically log request metadata (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security monitoring and debugging. These logs are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Monitor your watchlist and send bankruptcy alert emails
  • Process billing and manage your subscription
  • Send transactional emails (alerts, receipts, account notices)
  • Improve the Service using aggregated, non-identifiable analytics
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your watchlist data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the Service for you.

3. Information Sharing

We share information only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the Service:

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or a governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CaseWarn, our users, or the public.

If CaseWarn is acquired, merged, or its assets transferred, your information may be transferred to the successor entity subject to the same privacy protections described here. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

  • Account and watchlist data: Retained for the duration of your account, plus up to 30 days following account deletion, after which it is permanently deleted.
  • Payment records: Retained as required by applicable law (typically 7 years).
  • Server logs: 90 days.
  • Email delivery logs: 30 days.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, or to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@casewarn.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, email hello@casewarn.com.

EU/EEA residents (GDPR): Our lawful basis for processing is contractual necessity (to provide the Service you requested) and legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

6. Cookies

We use only essential session cookies set by Clerk for authentication. We do not use advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies. Vercel Analytics is privacy-preserving and does not set cookies.

7. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest for sensitive database fields. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is designed for business use and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us at hello@casewarn.com and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice within the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
